Be Ready for Anything

Bryan McManis

As an avid golfer, you know that you don’t always get to play in perfect weather. When the wind is blowing in harsh gusts, it will do some crazy things with your golf ball after it leaves your club. The following steps will help keep your score down during these windy conditions:

  1. Take a wider stance than normal. About two to three inches wider, which gives you a more stable base. Balance is key in windy conditions.
  2. Move the ball back in your stance about two to three inches.
  3. During your backswing, try to keep your weight on your left side.
  4. Make a sweeping swing through the shot and make a thin divot. This will help reduce spin and give you a little bit more roll.

It would be ideal if you can get out to the range on a windy day that would simulate

the windy conditions to get used to the feel of your stance and swing. Practice makes perfect!
