The Workout Balance

Keeping up a demanding workout schedule along with other commitments will undoubtedly leave you feeling fatigued. The Bay Club’s Fitness Director Paul Weidner at Westshore Yacht Club suggests that if you feel chronically fatigued, it may be due to one or more of the following reasons:
- Low iron levels - especially among women and vegetarians. Iron helps to transport oxygen in the blood and therefore one of the first symptoms of iron deficiency is fatigue and an inability to exercise to the same intensity. Red meat is your best source of iron as it is the most readily absorbable source - aim for three-to-four lean, red meat meals per week.
